Newport City Homes
Wireless Presentation Set-up
Location – Newport
Requirement: Integration of mobiles/tablets with classroom displays.
Introduction
Newport City Homes provides housing services to over 10,000 residents, leaseholders and shared owners
in the city of Newport and South Wales area. It was established in 2009 after Newport City Council
transferred its housing stock to the new organisation
The Brief
As a part of their ongoing commitment to their tenants, Newport City Homes conducts regular “town hall” style meetings with staff and tenants. Drake AV has previously supplied and installed a conference audio system that allows all in the room to hear and be heard without having to leave their seats. For this project, Newport City Homes wanted to upgrade the display set up in their meeting room to full wireless display connectivity. The solution needed to allow the screens to be connected individually when the rooms are divided into smaller spaces, as well as all the screens linked as one display for the larger meetings and events.
The Solution
Drake AV provided the solution, which included a consultation and initial design meeting, along with a demonstration on-site to provide the proof of concept. This was followed by supply, installation and support delivered via a tailored service agreement.
The WePresent 2000 was chosen as it provided a rugged yet flexible solution for the team at Newport City Homes. This allowed the user to connect both to their internal network and directly to the WePresent’s own wireless hotspot. For larger meetings, the team at Newport City Homes are able to link up to four displays with one device and share their documents, media and presentations.

The WePresent 2000 comes with a whole list of additional features including the ability to split the screen into four segments and connect four devices from any platform onto the same display. It also features a USB media player for multimedia content, documents and data to be stored on the player locally.
The team at Newport City Homes have engaged with a new means of working by enabling a collaborative BYOD an environment that promotes a collaborative working method that inspires both staff and it’s tenants.
